KERATITIS

Is an inflammation that affects the cornea, caused by a bacterial or viral infection. It produces intense eye pain, redness of the anterior pole of the eye, tearing and photophobia. Sometimes ulcers form on the cornea that can become serious or cause a decrease in visual acuity due to an alteration in transparency. People who wear contact lenses are more likely to suffer from it.

Treatment: The one caused by fungus requires antifungal eye drops and oral antifungal medications. If the infection is caused by a virus, antiviral eye drops, and oral antiviral medications may be effective.
