OCULAR ROSACEA

 

It is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin that affects the blood vessels and pilosebaceous units of the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin and manifests with frequent flushing, temporary or permanent redness, telangiectasia, papules and pustules with periodic exacerbations and remissions. When it progresses, other alterations can develop such as ocular involvement, scaling, edema, thickening of the skin, especially noticeable and characteristic when it affects the nose.

Treatment: starts with oral antibiotics (tetracycline), in addition ointments with anti-inflammatory and antibiotics and artificial tears can be added to relieve symptoms.
