STYE

It consists of the enlargement of a sebaceous gland, located at a certain depth in the eyelid, because of the obstruction of the opening of the gland, they are generally infected eyelash follicles.

Treatment: it has no specific treatment, it usually goes away on its own, if it is persistent:

  • Antibiotics: drops or topical ointment to put on the eyelid, if the infection in the eyelid persists or spreads beyond the eyelid, antibiotics in tablets or pills may be necessary.

  • Surgery to relieve pressure: if it does not go away, a small cut must be made in the stye to drain the pus, this helps speed up healing and relieves pain and swelling.
