There is inflammation that affects the retina and can be caused by different causes, the most frequent being of infectious origin, especially those caused by cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus, varicella-zoster virus, and the toxoplasma parasite. These conditions can seriously compromise visual ability, especially if the macula is affected, which is the area of the retina where there is a greater concentration of photoreceptor cells.
